Numbers to call for help
All emergency numbersBefore, during and after a disaster
NDRMA works across the whole disaster risk management cycle, long before and long after the day a disaster strikes.
Prevention
All the activities and measures taken to avoid existing and new disaster risks, such as dams against flooding or land-use rules that keep settlements out of high-risk zones.
Preparedness
A continuous cycle of planning, organising, training, equipping, exercising and evaluation, so that coordination works and the capability to protect people is in place before a hazard arrives.
Mitigation
Lasting measures that stop hazards from becoming disasters or reduce their effects: regulation, enforcement, and telling people about the dangers they face.
Response
Mobilising the emergency services and first responders needed in the disaster area.
Recovery
Restoring the affected area to its previous state, with the discipline to plan it and the flexibility to adapt as conditions change.
What recovery teaches feeds the next round of prevention.
Early warning
NDRMA monitors fire, flood, drought and storm risk with its partners, and releases warnings through Phepha to the website, the app, SMS and the CAP feed.

About NDRMA
NDRMA is the principal institution for disaster management established by Government. It coordinates and implements national disaster risk reduction and management, from prevention and mitigation to response and rehabilitation.
- Vision
- An adaptive, resilient and disaster safe Kingdom of Eswatini.
- Mission
- To prevent and substantially reduce the impact of disasters by promoting an integrated and coordinated system of disaster management focused on decreasing vulnerability, increasing preparedness and mitigation capacity.
How NDRMA came to be
- 1992
The National Disaster Task Force is set up as Eswatini faces a devastating drought.
- 2006
The Disaster Management Act is passed, for an integrated and coordinated system of disaster management.
- 2014
The National Disaster Management Agency is established in law.
- 2015
